Child Adoption
Adopting a child is becoming more frequent nowadays than it used to. In Earlier days, most adoptions were from within the family but now it is not uncommon for a family to adopt a child from hospital or a children’s home.
Everyone concerned with care of children agrees that an adopted child should be told that he is adopted. Parents usually bide the fact from the child end, as far as possible from their relatives and friends .There is every likelihood that the child will hear about it from somewhere or the other and this will do damage to his relationship with his parents.
He may feel inferior to other children who are not adopted. Parent should talk natural1y about the child’s adoption even before he understands what it means. They can make him feel loved and wanted by saying that they loved him so much when they saw him that they wanted him for their own.
A child who knows the truth from an early age is protected against an upsetting discovery later .The parents must give their adopted child a feeling of security and should never refer to his adoption when angry or disappointed. This will result in the child feeling unwanted and insecure.
