Use your bed only for sleeping! Don't read or watch TV in bed.

Taking a warm shower might help, it works because it relaxes you.

Chamomile tea can also help to relax you before sleep.

Exercise 5 hours before bedtime, this supposedly will help you sleep.

Avoid Caffeine, as everyone under the sun knows, Caffeine is a stimulant and will keep you wide awake.

If you can't sleep, get out of bed, it doesn't help to just sit in the dark if you can't sleep.
