Unconsciousness

 

Unconsciousness may be due to injury, illness, shock, or may follow a convulsion.
Poisons, kidney disease, viral infection of the brain (encephalitis), meningitis or heat-stroke may cause unconsciousness .
Medical help should be sought immediately It is a common practice to try and give water to the child, hoping that it might bring the child round.
Nothing should be given by mouth to an unconscious child, as he may choke.
If he is not breathing, then artificial respiration and mouth-to-mouth breathing will have to be given.
