Adenoids

Adenoids are nothing but small pads of tissue at the back of he nose. The nose gets blocked and the phlegm trickles down to the back of the throat, when these adenoids gets enlarged. This causes the child to breathe through his mouth, and so his mouth remains open. This may also cause his jaw hanging resulting in a rather unintelligent appearance. This type of face appearance is called as adenoid fades.

Adenoids can enlarge with tonsils, and the condition is called as “tonsils and adenoids”. If the throat specialist confirms the enlargment of adenoids, then an operation will have to be performed.
